Ethics - our suppliers

I would be delighted if you used this page to search out local suppliers, as I have done, to try and wean your shopping away from Supermarkets and large chains, ensuring that your money stays in Oxfordshire, even when you’re not dining at The Big Bang.

Many of these businesses aren’t the most web savvy, so may not have websites, if you can’t find them, have a search through http://www.Oxfordcityguide.com If you have any questions, then please do direct them to either my suppliers or to me personally – .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Sausages

Kelmscott Country Pork
The epitome of what the Big Bang is meant to be about. Kelmscott currently supply us with Pork and Apple sausages and Sweet Chili Pork along with smoked bacon ones. If you’re going to look at one website to see why I set The Big Bang up, then this one should be your pick – One frustrated farmer, selling what he grows.

David John Butcher
Right in the heart of Oxford, David John produce the finest vegetarian sausages the world over as well as producing some of the finest meats in Oxford.

Vicar's Game
These are my most versatile butcher, you only need to see the variety of sausages on the menu to realize how much work Owen and the guys at Vicars put into this restaurant. Each season when there are new meats, Owen and I will conjur up some strange new varieties. If you have your own ideas of what will work, let us know!

Hedges the Butcher
Ian at Hedges is your typical Butcher, straight out of literature. We currently stock their Pork and Leek and Cumberland sausages, both of which are fantastically flavoursome.

Fruit and Veg

Kingston Fruiterers
Bernie is one of the finest gentlemen in Oxfordshire. Honest, prompt and fixated upon quality and local sourcing. Why would anyone get fruit and veg from the Supermarkets?

Wine

Oxford Wine Company
Ted is a man who loves wines so much, he even has his own vines and bottled stuff with his name on it! Does a range of wines which we try to keep alive with regular changes. If you get a chance, head over to see them at Standlake wine warehouse – It’s a treat.

Stevens Garnier
Ben at Stevens helps us out when searching for the more illusive wines, ethically sourced from European vines. We can’t have too much wine from Oxfordshire, so Europe has to be a good second best!

Savage Selection
Mark is my wine equivalent of Kelmscott sausages. His love is wine, sharing great wines with friends and family. The more eclectic of my wines are generally from Mark.
